Viking Berserker 4

The fourth berserker, another point’s worth of troops for my Saga warband, completed.

Not bad overall although the skin tones are less successful than they could have been and the eyes are a product of my now inadequate eyesight.

Viking Berserker 3

A simple but pleasing sculpt that painted up nicely.

Skin tones back on form again, mainly by limiting the level of base coat that remains and allowing the mid-tone to predominate.

Viking Berserker 2

Less pleased with the way skin tones turned out on the second berserker, although I did rush him a bit.

The black lining around torcs, arm rings, etc., is too heavy handed so will avoid the (antiquated) technique moving forward.

Viking Berserker 1

Something a little different after all the chainmail and helms of my armoured warriors; the first of what will eventually be a total of eight, mostly naked, berserkers.

These sculpts are generally better than the warriors so they should paint up nicely. Also hoping I can get all eight done more quickly than the armoured warriors and archers.

Happy with the skin tones on this miniature; stuck to the three Foundry flesh tones with a little chestnut ink in the deepest recesses.

Viking Armoured Warrior Unit

At last the first warrior unit is complete - eight armoured axemen for another one point’s worth of troops for my growing Saga warband.

As with the archers, the quality of painting varies across the miniatures and the varnish finish is hit and miss but overall the unit looks good for the tabletop.
