The latest addition to my band of armoured warriors; another simple, compact sculpt that painted up nicely.

Viking Armoured Warrior (Foundry)
A solid looking miniature with a compact pose and some bulk about him. This time the varnish went the opposite way, being a little too shiny. Especially under the camera the paint job looks rather rough, so although the aim here is to get units done I’m starting to feel the need to challenge myself to try a high level GW piece to see to what extent I can pull it off…
Viking Warrior (Foundry)
So much for cooling varnish in the fridge to avoid furry/ murky finishes… Although the paint job is a little too rough for my liking, to my mind this miniature evokes a suitably viking atmosphere.

My archer levy done it’s now time to move on to the next one point of troops; eight armoured warriors.
The first miniature of the unit is a little rough but characterful none the less.
Leaving the spray varnish in the refrigerator for a few hours and spraying indoors with the air conditioning on overcame the furry varnish problem, this time.

Unit 2, or the second half of the dozen archers that make up the (often surprisingly well equipped) levy in my viking warband, is now complete.
Enjoyable overall despite some struggles and less than pleasing sculpts; they look okay from a few feet away.
Viking Archers (Foundry)
1 Saga point’s worth of viking archers in all their glory.
Obviously need a better set-up for wide angle photography…
